December Already?

Holy Cow it's already December! Well... the second day of December!

I have been so busy with house hunting, wedding research and my new job I have totally neglected my blog! First, I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving holiday and stuffed their faces! There are two days of the year in my book that you shouldn't count calories - Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Thanksgiving is about being with friends and family and being happy and care free!

I offered to make a huge veggie plate with two types of dips - Veggie and Onion. The onion dip was definitely my favorite, but everyone loved the veggie one! So it was a win-win.

Since I made the dips myself, I knew I could sneak making them healthier than the standard mayo and full fat sour cream dips you find at the grocery store!

Homemade Onion Dip
8 ounces fat free sour cream
8 ounces non fat plain Greek yogurt, I used Chobani
1 packet of onion soup mix

Homemade Veggie Dip
8 ounces fat free sour cream
8 ounces non fat plain Greek yogurt, I used Chobani
1 box of frozen spinach, defrosted and drained
1 packet of veggie dip mix (found in soup aisle)

Mix ingredients and you have your two healthy dips! I served this with slices of carrots, celery, red peppers, green peppers, cucumbers and broccoli florets!

It was my first Thanksgiving as a Pescatarian... but I still had some turkey.

Turkey cake! It was originally supposed to turn out as a pumpkin like I had seen on Pinterest... but, I am not the world's best baker. I thought making it into a turkey was more festive for Thanksgiving anyways! I used skewers and construction paper for the feathers and reeses pieces that we had on hand for the eyes and wings. It was a big hit with the kids!

We went golfing for the last time last Sunday! It was gorgeous weather and we knew that we probably wouldn't have another opportunity! Even though I was sick, I'm so glad I went. I was having an off day, but just being outside on the course is so relaxing.

I have been having the hardest time choosing a venue! Do I want a garden/mansion wedding, or a wedding on the bay, or do I want to stick with my dream of a vinyard wedding with a chic, rustic barn?

It's so hard to choose and I only plan on getting married once so I want to make sure it's right. I know it is about the marriage and not the party, but it is every girl's dream to get married and I already have my dream man - now I have to select the dream venue!

Here is a place I am so close to picking!

For my married readers - how did you choose your venue? I can see mine and Chris' personality in so many different places. We love going to vineyards, we lived in Annapolis and went to school near the water, garden weddings are so gorgeous because of the landscaping... help!

I recently read that you should make a list of the top 5 things that are must have's for your wedding.

Here are my top 5's for our venue:
1. Great Photo Opportunities
2. October 2012 Date
3. Reception and Ceremony at one place
4. Catering that is at a reasonable price and still tastes great.
5. A comfortable environment - nothing too over the top

If you have any recommendations in the Maryland area let me know!

  1. That place looks so amazing! Brandon and I were married in October too, it's such a beautiful time of year. We also did the wedding/reception together, but were married outside in the little courtyard and moved inside for the reception. I think the best thing to do is pick the place that makes life the easiest for you and can accommodate your needs. The last thing you want on your wedding day is to feel like you have too many ends to tie up.
